About Me

My name is Alexis Weston and I am a Hampton University alumna from Temecula, California. During my time at Hampton University, I have been an opinion writer for the Hampton Script, the secretary on the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on campus, the primary organizer of the Diaspora Diaries panel, and more!

I grew up in southern California and began writing poetry at 10 years old. In my adolescence I used essay writing as a creative outlet and that inspired me to become a journalism major.

At the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications I have undergone rigorous coursework that has taught me many skills applicable to the field of journalism. I aspire to become a doctor of Black studies, a novelist, a freelance journalist, and an educator.

This is a photo of me hosting a panel called Diaspora Diaries: An Analysis of the Black Experience Across cultures
